A “unique cultural and environmental asset”, Bundanon, meaning deep valley in traditional Dharawal language, is a centre for learning and creative arts. It was designed with sustainability and the surrounding 1,000-hectare landscape’s ecology in mind.

The impact of the climate crisis is felt deeply on the site of Bundanon with bush fires and floods shaping the environment in recent years.

Vigilance of our changing climate is growing within the lighting industry. At Stoane Lighting, we continue to manufacture responsibly. We design and make our products, to order, by hand, with circular economy-driven solutions and longevity in mind. This is a proud part of our heritage and is how we have made our products since the company began in 1995.

Working closely with FrameLight, we were invited to supply specialist gallery lighting to the new fire resistant Bundanon Art Museum. ZTA.50.Mains Track spot lights equipped with zoomable lensed framing projectors are located carefully to add drama and a meticulous contour. The easy-to-adjust fins allow for precision positioning to sharply define light on pieces of artwork.

In addition to supplying Stoane Lighting fixtures to Bundanon, FrameLight also renewed 85 fixtures from the original fit out that were to be upgraded from local dimming only. The renewal saw the in-house technicians at FrameLight update the internal control gear and track adaptors to allow the old fittings to be fully integrated into the building’s Casambi ecosystem.

Installing the Casambi module and solid-state relay combination has allowed Bundanon Art Museum to continue using existing, operational fittings with new technology and zero waste.

ZTA’s product family, which anticipates future technology changes, is built with modular capability. A spotlight can be transformed easily from fixed focus interchangeable optics, to a zoom lens, to a framing projector. Enabling an entirely new technical performance with every swap. This provides a lighting designer with ultimate flexibility. The framing attachment can be supplied with a new fitting or as an accessory to an existing one.

On a project where remanufacture or reuse is not possible and new lighting is needed, comfort can be taken from the fact that ZTA enables a circular economy and is designed for the lowest environmental impact. Data is readily available to support this, as is a 25 year duty of care.
