Assessment as a Service

We believe it is our responsibility as a manufacturer to support our clients wanting or needing to report environmental impacts associated with our products, or to empower sustainability-driven decision making, assess the impact of choices and help people make informed ones.

As companies invest in Net Zero strategies, it is crucial that information and data from their supply chains is readily available; therefore, we are happy to provide our clients with information on impacts of products, which may be contributing to their Scope 3 emissions in their Net Zero journey.

Who is this for?

Specifiers wanting to demonstrate the benefits of a certain approach or option, clients wanting to understand if a specific approach is linked to a reduction of environmental impact, or anyone who needs to provide evidence to a client or employer on the environmental reasons related to specification decisions in the project.

Our aim is to help designers choose products with high circularity and low embodied carbon/low environmental impacts. We communicate this information on our standard products already; for bespoke products we may need to get involved with you at early stages to advise on the best things to do to achieve more sustainable solutions.

What do we assess?

Lighting projects and installations can potentially have very different requirements, therefore we try our best to tailor our assessment offer to reflect specific needs.

We are able to offer our customers:

(i)         LCA reports of products on request (without third-party verification)

(ii)        TM65.2 and TM66 reports of products on request

(iii)        LCA studies of projects or specific aspects of projects

(iv)       TM65.2 assessments of projects or specific aspects of projects

The project-specific assessments can also be tailored to focus on aspects associated with circular economy practices such as remanufacturing or ReNew.

This is particularly useful to clients seeking evidence to justify remanufacturing approaches, such as the environmental impacts avoided by retaining an original product’s structure, so that they communicate costs not only from the financial point of view, but also environmental.

How does it work?

It all starts with a consultation with our sales team, who will be able to suggest and advise on specification choices and technical aspects. If these are also linked to environmental aspects – for example if we could suggest a different option which could have lower impacts or if a project could be suitable for a remanufacturing approach, and you would like to know more about it – then we can start our Feasibility Assessment stage.

Stage 1: Feasibility Assessment

During this stage we engage with the client to understand more about the project and the options to be considered in the assessment. This is also when we make a decision of the type of assessment which would be more suitable for the specific project, based on considerations on data availability and reporting needs.

During this stage we would likely ask our client to share some details on the products involved, and select a small sample to carry out a preliminary assessment.

Stage 2: Preliminary Results and Feedback

The results of the preliminary assessment are shared with the client and feedback provided on the process. For example, if we need more data or if a different methodology might be more suitable.

This is the stage where we can suggest if the approach is likely to provide environmental benefits and advise the client whether this means it may be worth proceeding with the complete assessment service.

Stage 3: Full Assessment

If the choice is to proceed with a complete assessment, this is where we would need comprehensive and detailed information on the installation. We would carry out the full study on the topic, product options or approaches subject of the preliminary assessment.

Stage 4: Full Report

To communicate the results of the assessment and provide recommendations based on environmental impact considerations, we will prepare a detailed report for the client, to be shared with relevant stakeholders.

Some examples of projects where we provided environmental assessment can be found in our ReNew section. There you can see what type of results we can provide to unequivocally show the benefits and impacts avoided thanks to this circular approach.
