Famous for many things, but in particular its spectacular fan vaulted ceiling, we're delighted to have been involved in the famous King’s College Chapel.
Working closely with Aterlier Ten’s UK lighting design team, the brief for new lighting within King’s College Chapel in Cambridge was to provide a flexible scheme with no fixings into the hallowed stonework. Bespoke vertically mounted arrays of multi-functional spot lights use tunable white LED modules with deep dimming to 0.1% and a choice of two optics (13º and 24º).
Each fixture sported a number of capped threaded securing bolts that screwed outward, precisely compressing it into position within the building’s delicate stone detailing. If the scene looks familiar it's because it features regularly on the BBC, most notably for the annual Christmas Carols from King’s service by the King's College Choir. This means flicker free light sources are essential in order to be compatible with digital filming equipment.
