McEwan Hall

Weighing in at 350kg, this is our heaviest chandelier to date. Despite its enormity, it delicately compliments the space of this iconic Edinburgh building.

The logistics of installing a suitable new winch and two precision winders and pulley sets was undertaken in parallel to development of the fitting. A full 1:1 working section was built and evaluated; during which period technology improvements and efficiency requirements meant the fitting moved from Metal Halide to LED engines. Form and scale were honed over numerous 3D CAD models before embarking on the final build. Within 36 hours of the 13 pallets of parts arriving on site, the fitting was built and hoisted up into position.
